Hadith about women
Allah Almighty has created the world and has created many creatures. He has created mankind, Jinn, women, men, animals, birds, and plants. Also, He has put qualities for men, and other qualities for women. We will talk about Hadith about women, that will give a complete picture of the status of women in Islam. This Hadith about women is our window to the lies and slander of non-Muslims on the Islamic religion. Before talking about Hadith about women, we should know more about the position of women in Islam, and the Islam’s view to women.Islam and women:
Islam has honored women and gave them their position, and this will be clear from the great verses of the Holy Quran and Hadiths. 1. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that:قال رسول االله صلى االله علیه وسلم:
انما النساء ُ شقائق ِ الرجال
This means that women are like men in the Islamic religion. And this indicates that women, like men, are in the same position, and there is nothing that can detract from the position of women in Islam. For this reason, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has advised us to respect, honor, and care for women. this will be clear when we learn Hadith about women. 2. Islam also respects and honors a women if she is a mother, Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran:وَوَصَّيْنَا الْإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ وَهْنًا عَلَىٰ وَهْنٍ وَفِصَالُهُ فِي عَامَيْنِ أَنِ اشْكُرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيْكَ إِلَيَّ الْمَصِيرُ
This great verse means that Allah has commanded us to do our best for our parents in this World, and the Hereafter. Also when a man went to the Prophet (SAW) to ask Him about Jihad, the Prophet (SAW) asked:قال: أتيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقلت: يا رسول الله إني كنت أردت الجهاد معك، أبتغي بذلك وجه الله والدار الآخرة، قال: ويحك، أحية أمك؟ قلت: نعم يا رسول الله، قال: ويحك الزم رجلها فثم الجنة. صححه الألباني.
“Is your mother alive?”, the man answered: yes, then he (SAW) said: “sit at her feet; as Heaven is under her feet.” 3. Islam has Mercy on woman, and Jihad wasn’t imposed on her due to her weakness. And there is other evidence for the honor of women in Islam. Allah Almighty also has described gender equality in Islam in the Holy Quran when He said:بسم االله الرحمن الرحیم
(من عمل صالحا من ذكر أو أنثى وهو مؤمن فلنحیینه حیاة طیبة ولنجزینهم أجرهم بأحسن ما كانوا یعملون)
The translation of this Verse is:
“To whoever, male or female, does good deeds and has faith, we shall give a good life and reward them according to the best of their actions.” Now it is time to have an example on Hadith about women.
Hadith about women:
عن رسول الله – صلى الله عليه وسلم – أنه قال: ((أربعٌ من السعادة: المرأةُ الصالحة، والمسكنُ الواسِع، والجارُ الصالح، والمَرْكَب الهنيء، وأربعٌ من الشقاء: المرأة السوء، والجار السوء، والمركب السوء، والمسكن الضيِّق))،
The translation of the Hadith is:
(Four of happiness: a good woman, a spacious house, a good neighbor, a comfortable car, and four misfortunes: a bad neighbor, a bad woman, a narrow house, and a bad car).
Simple explanation of this Hadith:
This is an example of Hadith about women that talk about the causes of happiness in this World. The presence of one or all of these causes of happiness is considered the best blessing that Allah gives to His servant. Though this happiness is Worldly, it is one of the things that most help the servant to obey his God.
This is confirmed by this Hadith about women:
قال رسول االله صلى االله علیه وسلم:
َ ((إنما الدنیا م َ تاع، ولیس من م َّ تاع الدنیا شيء أفضل من المرأة الصالحة))؛ صححه الألباني
Which means that the best blessing in this World is a good woman.
