Introduction:

Surah Al Asr is one of the great Surah that was revealed in Mecca, containing 3 verses. The Holy Quran contains 114 Surah, and Surah Al Asr is the 103th of them. It was revealed after Surah Al Inshirah, and before Surah Al Adiyat. It is also one of the shortest 3 Surahs of the Holy Quran, (which are Surah Al Kawthar, Surah Al Nasr, and Surah Al Asr). Due to the greatness of this Surah, some Jurists said “it is enough for Muslims if they contemplate it.”

Surah Al Asr transliteration:

1. Wal Asr. 2. Ennal ensana lafi khosr. 3. Ella ladhina amanu wa amelo asalehat, watawasaw billahi wa tawasaw besabr. Surah Al Asr translation: 1.Wal Asr. Allah swears by the era of Prophecy. 2.Ennal ensana lafi khosr. Human beings are at a loss. 3.Ella ladhina amanu wa amelo asalehat, watawasaw billahi wa tawasaw besabr. All are at loss except for believers and people who do righteous things, as they preach right, and preach patience. Simple explanation for Surah Al Asr: Though the shortness of this Surah, it shows the causes of loss, and the causes of profit. The winning Muslim who is characterized by these 4

characteristics:

1. Faith in Allah. 2. Doing Good Deeds. 3. Preaching right. 4. And preaching patience. The one who has these 4 characteristics is described as the winners in the World, and in the Hereafter. If we want to talk about Faith, we would like to say that to be a believer, you have to know the content of Faith, or what Allah has imposed on His servants. Faith requires knowledge, and insight. The virtue of reading Surah Al Asr: Good ancestors have realized the importance of this Surah and its reciting. The friends of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) didn’t leave each other untill they recite this Surah, and then one greeted each other. Shafi’i said “it is enough for people to recite Surah Al Asr.” What are the benefits of reciting Surah Al Asr? This great Surah has great reward like many other Surah of the Holy Quran, we can mention some of its benefits, 1. It is the word of Allah and each letter has a reward from Him. And Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Don’t say Alif laam meem as a letter, but alif is a letter, laam is a letter, and meem is a letter.” 2. To make our Prophet (SAW) our example. 3. It shows the loss of unbelievers, and surviving of the believers. 4. This Surah confirms that there is no survival without Faith in Allah. 5. Remind our friends with Allah, and Faith in Him before leaving each other, as said in the Holy Quran:

بسم االله الرحمن الرحیم واجعل لي وزيرا من أهلي هارون أخي اشدد به أزري وأشركه في أمري كي نسبحك كثيرا ونذكرك كثيرا
