And to You ˹alone˺ is the final return.”

“And pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy upon us.” That is, pardon our shortcomings and sins that are between us and You, which You know well. “Forgive us” means forgive our faults in relation to Your servants and do not expose our sins and shortcomings to them. “Have mercy upon us” means grant us mercy in what lies ahead and protect us from falling into further sin.
“You are our Protector, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people.” That is, You are our Guardian, our Helper, and our Support. In You we place our trust, and from You alone we seek assistance. There is no power and no strength except through You. “So grant us victory over the disbelieving people”—those who rejected Your religion, denied the message of Your Prophet, and worshipped others besides You. Therefore, grant us victory over them.
