Jami Tirmidhi

Jami Tirmidhi is a collection of our Prophet’s (SAW) Hadiths that compiled by Imam Muhammad Ibn Isa Ibn Musa At Tirmidhi. Tirmidhi was born in 209 AH and died in 279 AH. He was one of Bukhari students that were known for his piety, finally, he became blind due to God’s fear (he was crying a lot for fear of Allah). Al-Hafiz Abo sa’id Al Edrisei said about Tirmidhi that he was one of the leading Imams in the science of Hadith, especially that he was the owner of jami Tirmidhi. Jami Tirmidhi is one of the six most important Hadith books. This is one of the most important collections of Hadith. Some people think that the book of Jami Tirmidhi is different from that of Sunan Tirmidhi, but we are here to confirm that they are one book and not two separate books.

How can we describe this book?

This great collection contains 3956 Hadiths of the beloved Prophet (SAW), that are chapterized according to legal chapters, for example, purification, prayer, Orphans, and so on. Advantages of Jami Termidhi: Sheikh Ahmed Muhammad Shaker said that Jami Tirmidhi has 3 features that aren’t found in any of the Sunni books. We will mention some advantages of Jami Tirmidhi: 1. Briefly abbreviated methods of Hadith, Sheikh Ahmed Shaker said that “After he narrated the Hadith of Jami Tirmidhi, he had mentioned the names of the companions about whom the Hadiths were narrated.” There is no doubt that this shows ample knowledge and great understanding. 2. Jami Tirmidhi mentioned the difference between Jurists and their opinions on the issue of jurisprudence. 3. Tirmidhi gave all care in writing in this book, and mentioned all authentic and weak Hadiths. We can never clarify the greatness of this book, but we will take an example from it.

Translation of the Hadith:

“In Paradise, there are a hundred levels, what is between every two levels is like what is between the heavens and the earth. Al-Firdaus is its highest level, and from it, the four rivers of Paradise are made to flow forth. So when you ask Allah, ask Him for Al-Firdaus.”

Simple explanation of the Hadith:

We all know that the primary goal of our existence on Earth is to obey Allah, and reconstruct the Universe. We also know that our goal of this obedience, and this reconstruction is to win Paradise. For this reason, our beloved Rophet Muhammad (SAW) has motivated us to enter Paradise, and has described it to us in several Hadiths. This is an example of Hadith that describes a simple description of Jannah from Jami Tirmidhi. It is very important to know that the highest degree of Paradise is Firdaws, and it is our main goal. The beloved Prophet (SAW) has advised us to ask Allah for Firdaws when we pray to Him to bless us with Jannah. Allah also said in Surah Ra’d:

 مَّثَلُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّتِي وُعِدَ الْمُتَّقُونَ ۖ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۖ أُكُلُهَا دَائِمٌ وَظِلُّهَا ۚ تِلْكَ عُقْبَى الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوا ۖ وَّعُقْبَى الْكَافِرِينَ النَّارُ (35)

Allah Almighty has promised the righteous to Paradise from which rivers flow. Only the believers will enter Heaven, while the disbelievers will enter Hell. As Muslims, we have to ask Allah to bless us with Paradise, and keep us away from Hell and its torment. His death: Tirmidhi died on Monday in 279 in Termiz, and he was seventy years old.
