What The Meaning Of Tajweed
Tajweed has two meanings :
The first one is the linguistic meaning of the recitation: to make something beautiful
The second one is the technical meaning of the recitation: giving each letter its right with its description and origin.
*Its definition :
• Language definition: “efficiency” or “improvement”.
• Applicable definition: Clarify each letter from the point of expression and give the message its rights and entitlements of characteristics. The rights of letters are their required characteristics that you never leave. Letter dues are their displayed properties that are sometimes present and are not present at other times.
i.e.: Edgham ( ادغام).
*Its formation :
The words of the Qur’an and some said of the Hadiths also.
*Its fruits :
It prevents the reader from making mistakes in pronunciation when reciting the Qur’an.
*Its priority :
It is one of the most revered sciences and one of the best of them because of its relation to the words of Allah.
*Its place within science :
It is one of the sciences of Islamic law associated with the glorious Quran.
*Its founder :
The author of the rules in practice is the Messenger of Allah (Allah’s peace be upon him)
Because the Qur’an has been getting down from him “God the Highest”, with the Tajweed, and has received it from the Secretariat worthy, Jibril (A.S /may Allah’s peace be upon him) and taught to his companions, who taught them to their followers and so on until he reached us with these chains. The rule rests scientifically on the scholars of the Qur’an, such as Abu Ubayd al-Qasim ibn Salam.
*Its commandment :
Knowledge of Tajweed is an Fard kifayah, a group of people who are sufficient for the Islamic community must know it, and its application is a Fard Ain , imposes on all Muslims (men and women) who have full Qur’an “or part of it saved in the memory, even if only one Surah.
*The reason for its rule :
Protecting the Qur’an and preserving it from distortion. Arabs mixed with non-Arabs after the spread of Islam, and Muslims were afraid that the Arabic tongue would be damaged by this mixing.
Then it became mandatory to lay down rules that would keep the Qur’an reciting from errors,
And ensure the safety of the pronunciation of the Qur’an.
*Its principle :
Knowledge of Tajweed depends on four things:
I. Know the expression points of letters.
II. Learn the properties of the letters
III. Find out what rules are changing due to order / sequence of letters.

*levels of reading the Qur’an:
There are three levels of speed of reciting the Qur’an :
1 – Investigate: Read the Quran slowly and quietly with a thinking on the meaning and observance of the rules of Tajweed, giving each letter its rights with respect to the characteristics and expressions, prolonging the letters of the tide, which must be extended, and not to prolong that which is not supposed to lengthen.
Is the recitation of heavy letters heavy and light letters light as required by the rules of Tajweed. This is the best level of reading.
2 – Al-Hadar: It is a swift way to read the Quran, taking into account the rules of Tajweed.
The reader must then be careful not to cut lengthened letters, not to get rid of Ghunnah, and not to shorten the vowels to the extent that the reading is incorrect.
3 – Al-Tadweer : Reading is done at a moderate speed between the two levels mentioned above while maintaining and observing the rules of Tajweed.
*The reading of Sheikh Basfar in his mu’allim (teaching) will be an example of the investigation or the slowest way of recitation.
Recitation of his prayer tends to be faster than investigating in the middle way, such as the Al-Hadar.
