The Virtue of The Ten Days :

Firstly / In the Qur’an :

The reference to the virtue of these ten days in some verses of the Holy Quran, including the said of God :
 { وَأَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ بِالْحَجِّ يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالاً وَعَلَى كُلِّ ضَامِرٍ يَأْتِينَ مِنْ كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍ * لِيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَعْلُومَاتٍ  }
 ( سورة الحج: الآيتان 27 -28 ) .
Where Ibn Katheer reported in the interpretation of this verse as saying: “Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them: the informed days are the ten days.
As the God almighty said :
{ وَالْفَجْرِ * وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ } ( سورة الفجر : الآيتان 1 – 2 ).
Al-Imam Al-Tabari said in his interpretation of this verse as saying: “And saying:” And the ten nights, “are the nights of ten days of Dhu Al-Hijjah, to the consensus of the argument of the people of interpretation of it”.

This was confirmed by Ibn Katheer in his interpretation of this verse by saying: “The ten nights are meant to be the ten nights of the ten days of Dhu Al-Hijjah, as Ibn Abbas, Ibn al-Zubayr, Mujahid, and one of the Salaf and al-Khalaf.

Here it can be said that the virtue of the ten days of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah has been stated explicitly in the Holy Quran, which called it the informed days to the great virtue and honor of her status.

Second / In the Sunna :

The ten days of Dhu Al-Hijjah are mentioned in some of the Ahadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) :
The first Hadeeth: It was narrated that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There are no days of good deeds in which loved by Allah from these days. They said: Allah’s prophet, even the jihad for the sake of Allah. He said: Even jihad for the sake of Allah except a man went out by himself and his money and return with nothing “(Abu Dawood).

The second Hadeeth : It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The ten is the Ten Days of AlAd-haa, and the Water is the day of ‘Arafah, and the Shaf’e is the Day of Sacrifice “(Narrated by Ahmad).

The third Hadeeth: It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There are no better days for Allah than the ten days of Dhu Al-Hijjah.” He said: A man said: Messenger of Allah, are they better or have them in the jihad for the sake of Allah? He said: “They are better than their jihad for the sake of Allah” (Ibn Hibban).

The fourth Hadeeth : It was narrated that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “There is no work that is better for Allah or a greater reward than the good that a man does in the tenth of Al-Ad-haa. It is said: And even the jihad in the sake of Allah. He said: Even the jihad in the sake of Allah except for a man who has gone out of his own soul and his wealth, and returned with nothing. Said Saeed bin Jubayr if he entered the ten days diligent so hard that almost can be estimated “(Narrated by al-Darami).

The fifth Hadeeth: It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The best days of the world is the tenth, means the tenth of Dhu Al-Hijjah. It was said: And not like them in the sake of Allah? He said: “And not like them in the sake of Allah except who dusting his face in the dust” (Narrated by al-Haythami).

Here we can say: The total of these Ahadeeth shows that the ten days are meant to be the first ten days of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
